THE MARTYRS

The term Martyr was originated in the Greek “martys” which means “witness” or “deponents.” The term refers to somebody who undergoes bitter persecution and death for declining to forsake a belief, probably in spiritual system.

The Meaning of Martyrs

The original meaning of its rooted word was deponent or witness. It was utilized in the worldly (secular, lay) field together in Old Testament and New Testament of the Holy Bible. In the article from Wikpedia, that the process of demeaning the witness was not projected to dominate death of the deponent, even if it is famous from primordial writers, like Josephus, that witness probably in the lower classes were tormented habitually ahead of being cross-examined as a ways of forcing them to unveil the truth.

At some point in the ancient Christian centuries, the term obtained the unmitigated implication of a believer who is called to witness for their religious belief, and on account of this witness, tolerates suffering and/or death. The term, in this later sense, entered the English language as a loanword. The death of a martyr or the value attributed to it is called martyrdom.
